PMEGP (Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme)
New unit under the December 2023 guidelines: maximum project cost ₹50 lakh for manufacturing and ₹20 lakh for service or business. Margin-money subsidy is 15% of project cost in urban areas and 25% in rural areas for the general category, and 25% urban / 35% rural for special categories (SC, ST, OBC, minorities, women, ex-servicemen, transgender persons, persons with disability, NER, hill and border areas, and aspirational districts). Own contribution is 10% for general category and 5% for special categories. For MSE loans sanctioned or renewed on or after 1 April 2026, including PMEGP units, banks must lend without collateral up to ₹20 lakh under RBI's Lending to MSME Sector (Amendment) Directions, 2026 (RBI/2025-26/206, 9 February 2026). Banks may go up to ₹25 lakh without collateral based on the borrower's track record and good repayment, with CGTMSE cover. Apply at pmegp.msme.gov.in (PMEGP 2.0). PM Mudra Yojana (PMMY)
PMMY ceilings: Shishu up to ₹50,000; Kishore above ₹50,000 and up to ₹5 lakh; Tarun above ₹5 lakh and up to ₹10 lakh; Tarun Plus above ₹10 lakh and up to ₹20 lakh, and only after an earlier Tarun loan has been repaid.
